Torero catalán, nacido en Torredembarra (Tarragona) el 16 de octubre de 1824. Dejó de ser cosario para hacerse torero, alentado por José Redondo, que le vio torear en una encerrona celebrada en Barcelona el año 1852, y eligió su valentía.
Pasó a Francia con Basilio González (el Sastre), donde permaneció larga temporadas y aprendió las suertes del toreo landés; mató en Madrid los toros en puntas de algunas novilladas, y el 12 de junio de 1864, madurito ya, tomó la alternativa en la mencionada Ciudad Condal de manos de Julián Casas (el Salamanquino), al cederle la muerte del toro Silletero, del marqués de la Conquista, en presencia de José Antonio Suárez.Fue lidiador torpe y basto; su única aptitud consistió en un relativo acierto para meter la espada; pasó mucho tiempo en América, de donde regresó en 1871; toreaba poco; sufrió una cogida grave del toro Artillero, de Carriquiri, el 28 de junio de 1874, y la última vez que vistió el traje de luces fue el 24 de agosto de 1879 en Barcelona y en una corrida a su beneficio.
Con fecha 4 de marzo de 1892 falleció en el Hospital del Sagrado Corazón, de la repetida ciudad.
