Nació en Olivares (Sevilla) el 21 de diciembre de 1883, cursó dos años del bachillerato, fue aprendiz de sombrerero y acabó por lanzarse a las capeas con la ilusión de vestir el traje de luces.
Se presentó en Madrid como novillero el 15 de octubre de 1905, acompañado de Limiñana y el Vito; sobresalió bien pronto entre los matadores de novillos de porque prometía bastante, y el 28 de junio de 1908 recibió la alternativa en Murcia de manos de Machaquito, con Vicente Segura de testigo y toros d Olea. El de la cesión, de pelo cárdeno, se Llamabase Jardinero. No llegó a confirmar su alternativa en Madrid. El 23 de agosto de aquel mismo año, toreando en Astorga con Regaterín toros de Santiago Necher, le cogió el segundo, llamado Sordito, al pasarlo de muleta y le infirió una cornada en la región anal, con perforación del recto. Grave percance, en verdad.
Trasladado a Madrid, mejoró mucho; pero una imprudencia cometida en el régimen le ocasionó la muerte el día 13 de octubre.
